Pragmatic Play built Master Chen's Fortune around a Chinese fortune theme and an old-school frame of five reels, three rows and nine paylines, every one of which pays in both directions. Master Chen himself is the wild, scatters pay on their own, the volatility is medium-high and wins top out at 3,600x.
Game mechanics
This 2018 release keeps to straightforward line play on five reels and three rows. The difference is that each of the nine lines is read twice, once from the leftmost reel and once from the rightmost, so a run of matching symbols on the last three reels counts just as a run on the first three does.
Master Chen is the wild: he fills in for the regular pay symbols whichever way a line is read, and any win he takes part in is doubled. Scatters pay on their own count wherever they land.
Features
- Both-ways paylines. All nine lines pay left to right and right to left, so three matching symbols ending on the far-right reel are worth the same as three starting on the far left.
- Master Chen wild. Master Chen stands in for the regular pay symbols, can complete a line from either end of the reels and doubles any win he is part of.
- Scatter. Paid according to how many appear anywhere in view, with no payline needed.
How to play the free demo
- Read each spin of the Master Chen's Fortune demo from both ends, as a line can pay from the first reel or from the fifth.
- When Master Chen drops in, trace his line in both directions, since he can complete a win read from the left or from the right.
- Count the scatters even on spins with no line win, as they pay wherever they sit.
Why try the Master Chen's Fortune demo
The both-ways rule is easier to see than to read about: a handful of spins shows the right-hand reels finishing wins that a left-to-right slot would ignore. Over a longer session, note how often Master Chen joins a line, and what the scatter pays add on spins where no line wins.
